Attendees of The Meetings Show this year were in for a Korean-style treat thanks to the participation of many of the country’s major business events providers this past June 29-30 in London. Korea’s strong appeal as a business and leisure destination was in evidence, with the Korea MICE Bureau on hand especially to introduce its newly-updated support programs for business events hosted in the country.

Fellow co-host partner the Busan Convention & Visitors Bureau was also present. Korea’s second city, Busan showcased ‘HAEVENUE’ (Haeundae International Conference Complex), the city’s special MICE zone comprised of BEXCO (Busan Exhibition & Convention Center), accommodations (Paradise Hotel, Park Hyatt, Westin Josun Busan, Grand Josun), and unique venues (Nurimaru APEC House, Busan Cinema Center, Museum DAH). Busan will bid for the upcoming 2030 World Expo, and recently appointed K-pop sensation BTS as Honorary Ambassador to support promotions for the bid.

Also notably attending was The Independence Hall of Korea, a Korea Unique Venue located in Chungcheongnam-do Province. Comprised of seven spacious exhibition halls, a convention hall, auditorium and outdoor spaces, The Independence Hall of Korea offers the perfect setting for unique MICE events while capturing the spirit of the Korean people’s fight for freedom and peace.

Meanwhile, new to The Meetings Show this year were Korea MICE Association, representing the Korea MICE industry, and Changwon Exhibition Convention Center (CECO), located in the southern city of Changwon, an industrial city home to major global companies. Corporate event planners looking for incentive service providers in Korea were also able to checkout Danim Events, a full service Destination Management Company at the Korea stand.

Korea continues to make headway into cementing its place as one of the world’s most popular convention destinations. The most recent UIA statistics report placed Korea second worldwide for international association events. Recent ICCA rankings announced in May 2022 also showed Seoul had risen into the top 5 of global top cities for international meetings.

This was Korea’s first in-person attendance at The Meetings Show since 2019 due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Pre-Covid-19, Korea annually attended The Meetings Show, the UK’s premier meetings industry networking and education expo. The Korea MICE Expo, Korea’s own principal meetings expo, will take place this year from November 9-10.
