The Korea Tourism Organization invited journalists from around the world for the Korea Unique Venue Famtour this month, showcasing Korea’s Unique Venues and offerings for MICE groups. Participating journalists joined from the US, Germany, Thailand, France, UK and Singapore for a seven day tour between July 3-9 around key spots in Jeollanam-do and Jeollabuk-do Province, as well as Seoul and Incheon. The locations were selected to commemorate ‘Visit Jeonnam Year 2022’. The focus of this year’s tour was the Korea Unique Venues, a collection of 39 venues selected by KTO for their unique charm and regional characteristics. The venues can accommodate various MICE events, including conferences, business meetings and workshops, while providing one-of-a-kind, unconventional settings, with venues ranging from museums, cruise ships to folk villages and more. Throughout the tour, participants visited a total of five Korea Unique Venues in different regions throughout the country, each showcasing the region’s unique charms. The venues included Royal Room of King (Jeonju), Asia Culture Center (Gwangju), National Museum of Korea (Seoul), Floating Island Convention (Seoul), and Panoramic 65 (Incheon). In addition, participants had the opportunity to take part in various experience and teambuilding programs, including traditional liquor making at Jeonju Hanok Village, hanbok experience, and learning to play gayageum, a traditional Korean instrument - all activities available for visiting MICE groups in Korea. Prior to Covid-19, KTO hosted the MICE Media Famtour each year, inviting journalists from around the world to visit Korea’s MICE venues and offerings for MICE groups. The last famtour took place in 2019, with 18 journalists invited to visit locations in Seoul, Busan, Gyeongju, Incheon and Gyeonggi-do Province. The tour coincided with the Korea MICE Expo, Korea’s annual MICE event. After the tour, the journalists will write about their experiences in Korea to be published in various MICE media outlets to promote Korea as a MICE destination. close |
