As the central MICE bureau, the Korea Tourism Organization leads the sustainable management of the MICE industry.
To enhance understanding of sustainability in the domestic MICE industry and strengthen Korea’s MICE attraction capacity, we have produced the ‘MICE ESG Operation Guide’.
What is the MICE ESG Operation Guide?
When considering the hosting location of an international MICE event, various factors are taken into consideration, including international accessibility, financial factors, and recently, the implementation of ESG.
In order to objectively measure the degree of ESG, various international organizations, including GRI and ISO have created evaluation indicators to objectively evaluate ESG levels.
The MICE ESG Operation Guide introduces the concept and scope of application of ESG in the MICE industry for sustainable development.
ESG strategies are implemented in the domestic MICE industry, reflecting the core principles of inclusivity, completeness, accountability, and transparency.
Through this guide, we tried to suggest an integrated application and implementation plan, so key members of the MICE industry can properly introduce Sustainability and ESG to create a better future together.
How to Use the Operation Guide
The MICE ESG Operation Guide is a standard for Sustainable MICE which reflects the current domestic situation. It was developed using international standards, and guidelines for application are provided as well.
Through practice of the operation guide, the organization can adhere to principles of sustainable development in terms of the environment, society and economy.
In addition, we are encouraging ESG activities by providing additional benefits upon application of the ESG checklist in KTO’s MICE-related support projects, or upon meeting and exceeding the required standards.
