Korea Brings 20th International Microscopy Congress to Busan

The International Microscopy Congress 2022 (IMC20) will take place from September 25 - 30, 2022 in Busan, South Korea. Approximately 3,000 delegates from 37 countries around the world are expected to attend the congress. The event will include a simultaneous exhibition of global microscope manufacturing companies.

One lecturer and five panelists sit in the conference room and present IMC20 society.

The International Federation of Societies for Microscopy (IFSM) announced the decision after a voting made during the 19th International Microscopy Congress in Sydney, Australia last September 13, 2018. Other finalists for the conference destination were South Africa (Cape Town), Netherlands (Maastricht), USA (Portland), and Spain (Madrid).

The International Microscopy Congress (IMC) is the largest and most important activity of the IFSM. It serves as a great platform for scientists in the microscopy sector to discuss trending issues and network with other people in the industry. Held every four years, Korea will be the second Asian country, after Japan, to host the IMC.

"This success is a fruitful result of our strong collaboration with the local community, academe, and the private sector" In Sook Lee, Director at the Korea Tourism Organization – Convention Team, expressed her delight that Korea has been successful in the bid to host the IMC20 in Busan. "Last year, Korea is the top meeting destination according to the Union of International Associations, and we are determined to promote Korea's knowledge, expertise, and capability to attract more international conferences" she added.

In the meantime, the Korea MICE Bureau will be participating in upcoming major international trade shows such as IMEX America (Booth D4542) and IBTM World (Booth G60). For more information about hosting and support programs for business events in Korea, email mice@knto.or.kr
